Potevamo mancare l'appuntamento del Centenario di Aeronautica Militare a Roma ?
Assolutamente no, anche solo per dire "io c'ero" , ero presente a questo appuntamento storico.
Già da sabato a Roma per una visita al Museo della Guardia di Finanza, di cui seguirà il report, siamo stati accolti dai passaggi in formazione dell'Airbus A319 e dei Falcon 50 che eseguivano delle prove per la grande formazione del 28.
Ogni angolo della capitale richiama l'evento storico che ci apprestiamo a vivere, mentre il centro vero e proprio è il villaggio denominato "Air Force Experience" di Piazza del Popolo, che ha visto un flusso continuo di appassionati, ma anche di turisti un po' sorpresi ma piacevolmente interessati, ad ammirare alcuni velivoli in mostra statica: un Tornado con la livrea desertica dell'operazione Desert Storm, un MB-339 PAN, un elicottero HH-139 SAR, un Eurofighter (mockup) e un F-35 (mockup) con una speciale livrea sugli impennaggi verticali raffiguranti all'esterno il logo del Centenario e all'interno del 6° e del 32° Stormo, attuali utilizzatori del caccia di 5 generazione.
Oltre a questo, stand informativi e d'intrattenimento, simulatori di volo e il grande palco che per i giorni dell'evento ha ospitato proiezioni, rappresentazioni ed esibizioni musicali e sportive insieme ad ospiti d'eccezione e la mascotte "Roger" e, nel tardo pomeriggio di domenica, i piloti delle Frecce Tricolori.
La piazza è stata la nostra metà diverse volte in orari diversi, e le code per poter salire sui velivoli esposti è sempre stata lunga, non solo di bambini o ragazzi, ma anche di adulti che per una volta nella vita hanno provato l'emozione di sedersi all'interno di un caccia o di un elicottero della nostra Aeronautica.
La domenica abbiamo potuto documentare l'arrivo della Pattuglia Acrobatica a Pratica di Mare e il lunedì successivo siamo stati ospiti della base per un incontro ravvicinato con la PAN e per documentare decolli e atterraggi di una parte degli aerei che hanno effettuato le prove del sorvolo su Roma del martedì successivo.
La giornata, meteorologicamente parlando iniziata con un diluvio e una forte grandinata sulla capitale, ha preso poi una svolta quasi inaspettata regalando una spettacolare giornata di sole con un cielo terso che ha fatto da cornice alle nuove "Tail" di alcuni 339 della PAN, che per l'anniversario hanno sfoggiato il logo del centenario in Blu e in Oro e le quattro squadriglie storiche che compongono il logo di Aeronautica, il "Cavallo alato" della "Squadriglia Farman", il "Grifo rampante" della "91^ Squadriglia da caccia" più nota come la "Squadriglia degli Assi", il "Quadrifoglio" della "10^ Squadriglia da bombardamento Caproni" e il "Leone di S. Marco" della "87^ Squadriglia Aeroplani" rinominata "La Serenissima".
Il martedì, di buon mattino, ci siamo portati sul Gianicolo, la terrazza di Roma, dove nonostante le condizioni di luce e alcuni aggiustamenti "in corsa" dei passaggi della grande formazione sul cielo di Roma ha permesso qualche scatto diverso, soprattutto il passaggio della PAN con i fumi con la città eterna sullo sfondo.
Affacciato su Piazza del Popolo sulla terrazza del Pincio le alte autorità dello Stato civili e militari hanno salutato il passaggio degli 83 aerei, forse un attimo troppo distanziati tra loro, ma comunque spettacolari.
Il 2023 sarà un anno intenso di attività per le donne e gli uomini dell'Aeronautica, una forza aerea che sembra quasi ringiovanire nonostante le 100 candeline, proiettata come il leitmotive scelto per il centenario "In volo verso il futuro", verso il futuro appunto, mostrando tecnologia, professionalità, passione, coraggio e sacrificio in tutte le missioni a cui è chiamata a partecipare in Italia e nel mondo sempre fedele al motto "Vitute Siderum Tenus", con valore verso le stelle.

Could we possibly miss the Italian Air Force Centennial event in Rome?
Absolutely not, we were present at this historic event.
We started our tour in Rome on Saturday for a visit at "Guardia di Finanza" museum, a report will follow, we were greeted by the formation passes of the Airbus A319 and Falcon 50s performing dry runs for the big formation on the 28th.
Every corner of the capital recalls the historic event we are about to experience, while the real epicenter is the village called "Air Force Experience" in “Piazza del Popolo”, which saw a steady stream of enthusiasts, as well as somewhat surprised but pleasantly interested tourists, admiring some of the aircraft on static display: a Tornado with the desert livery of Operation Desert Storm, an MB-339 PAN, an HH-139 SAR helicopter, a Eurofighter (mockup) and an F-35 (mockup) with a special livery on the vertical empennages depicting the Centennial logo on the outer side and the 6th and 32nd Wing, current users of the 5-generation fighter, on the inner tails.
In addition to this, information and entertainment stands, flight simulators, and the large stage that for the following days of the event hosted screenings, performances, and musical and sports performances along with special guests and the mascot "Roger" and, late Sunday afternoon, "Frecce Tricolori"’s pilots.
The square was our destination several times at different times, and the queues was always long to be able to get into the aircraft on display, not only of children, but also of adults who for once in their lives experienced the thrill of sitting inside a fighter jet or helicopter of our Italian Air Force.
On Sunday we were able to document the arrival of the Aerobatic Patrol at Pratica di Mare, and the following Monday we were guests at the base for a close encounter with the PAN and we were able to document takeoffs and landings of a portion of the aircraft that carried out the following Tuesday's overflight rehearsals over Rome.
The day, began with a poor weather, with downpour and a heavy hailstorm over the capital, then an unexpected improving gave a spectacular sunny day with a clear sky that was the setting for the new "Tails" of some of PAN's 339s, which for the anniversary showed off the centenary logo in Blue and Gold and the four historical squadrons that make up the Air Force logo, the "Winged Horse" of the "Farman Squadron," the "Rampant Gryphon" of the "91st Fighter Squadron" better known as the "Aces Squadron," the "Cloverleaf" of the "10th Caproni Bombardment Squadron," and the "Lion of St. Mark" of the "87th Aeroplane Squadron" renamed "La Serenissima."
Early in the morning on Tuesday, we took to the Janiculum Hill, the terrace of Rome, where despite the light conditions and some "running" adjustments of the passages of the large formation over the skies of Rome allowed for a few different shots, a particular mention the smoke passage of the PAN with the eternal city in the background.
Overlooking Piazza del Popolo on the terrace of the Pincio Hill the high civil and military state authorities greeted the passage of the 83 planes, perhaps a moment too far apart, but still spectacular.
The year 2023 will be an intense year of activity for the women and men of the Italian Air Force, that seems almost rejuvenated despite its 100 candles, projected as the leitmotif chosen for the centenary "In volo verso il futuro," toward the future precisely, showing technology, professionalism, passion, courage and sacrifice in all the missions in which it is called to participate in Italy and around the world always faithful to the motto "Vitute Siderum Tenus," with valor toward the stars.
